What is NAET?
NAET stands for Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique.
Many people have been treated successfully since the development of this technique in 1983. Dr Devi Nambudripad developed NAET as a successful answer to her own severe allergies.
NAET uses the principles of Chinese medicine to treat allergens. It is gentle and non-invasive. At your initial appointment a comprehensive medical history and details of your allergies and symptoms will be taken. What is a muscle test?
Light pressure is applied to a muscle or depending on what is being treated, sometimes several. In health, it should hold strong. If the muscle cannot hold strong, it indicates that something mental, chemical, structural and electrical is relevant within that muscle system.
We can then search for strengthening nutrition and use lymphatic techniques that improve nerve and lymphatic supply to help restore muscle strength. This in turn should impact whatever health issue is being addressed.
What are allergies?
Allergies are sensitivities to certain substances. The Body sees harmless substances as a threat and initiates inappropriate responses after contact with certain allergens.
Allergies can be triggered by stress, trauma, exposure to strong or toxic substances or they can be inherited. Stress and anxiety can make sensitivities worse.
Allergy testing and treatment
Kinesiology and NAET are practical treatment modalities to test for sensitivities to food, contact or inhaled substances.
NAET and kinesiology are based on muscle testing. I have a lot of different substances that I can test and can even test substances from your own environment.
What happens during a treatment?
During an allergy testing treatment, I’ll first ensure I have a reliable muscle that will switch on - be strong, and that will switch off - become weak. I’ll then ask you to hold little test vials of various substances. Ideally, your arm should hold firm. An inadequate muscle response indicates that you may be sensitive to the substance you are holding. I can find out if that substance should be avoided entirely, or eaten in moderation. Using NAET, substances that cause strong reactions can be downgraded and desensitised.
Who do I treat?
I treat lots of people with hayfever, allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema. I also have people who come to see me who explain that their digestion isn’t quite right. They think it's something they are eating, but they are not sure what.
As these testing methods are so gentle, we can treat babies too. We use your arm to test your baby, through a method called surrogate testing.
NAET testing and treatments
Allergy tests will be performed using all the major food groups, environmental factors including moulds, household chemicals, perfumes, dust and pesticides.
The testing uses the principles of kinesiology. You will be asked to hold substances in your hand. The other arm is used to test muscle strength to determine which substances you are sensitive to. Children and babies can be tested using the parent/carer.
When an allergen is held the muscle tested should be strong, if not the patient may be susceptible to allergic reactions to that substance.
Having identified the allergens, you can then decide to avoid the allergens, or have them treated. One allergen or groups of allergens are treated each time.
The treatment aims to re set your immune system, making you less reactive. Over a course of treatments symptoms should become less acute.
In follow up consultations you will be re tested for substances treated at the previous appointment. We then continue to treat for other substances. You will be advised on your first visit the likely number of treatments necessary.
