What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years; it approaches each individual as a whole, integrating all systems of the body. It is an ancient health providing system for health concerns of the modern age.
Who has Acupuncture?
Central to Chinese Medicine is the concept of Qi (pronounced "chee"). This life giving energy maintains balance in the body. During ill health or if in pain, the flow of Qi can disrupted. Qi flows throughout the body in channels or meridians and collects at certain points in the body. These acu points are used to tap into and affect the flow of Qi.
The use of fine needles promotes movement of Qi, aiding health, relieving pain and promoting good health, naturally.
Although promoting good circulation of Qi is central to a Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist, recent medical research has begun to explore how the body experiences less pain after having acupuncture.
During the consultation
You will be asked what symptoms you would like treated. We will talk about all systems of the body to get a full picture of your health. I'll look at your tongue and use pulse diagnosis to refine our conclusions. Acupuncture points that have actions relevant to your symptoms will be needled. The needles are very fine and not normally painful.
